Song Lyrics

It's the Little Things that Mean the Most at Christmas
There's a happy kind of feeling all around us.
There's a special kind of magic in the air.
You can see it in the faces of the children,
And you can hear it in the songs that we share.
It's the time when friends and neighbors come together,
A time for families to gather round the tree
Making memories we want to keep forever,
Sharing the wonders of the season joyfully.

It's the little things that mean the most at Christmas,
The gifts all wrapped with love that come from the heart.
The little kindly things we do for one another
Can bring peace on earth wherever we are.

You can give the gift of spending time with loved ones.
To the neighbor who is lonely, be a friend.
Look for ways to serve and help the ones around you,
And to the one who needs forgiveness, make amends.
Let your heart be filled with love for one another.
Let your words speak peace wherever you may be.
Treating everyone you meet as your brother
Can be the best gift you will find beneath the tree.

It's the little things that mean the most at Christmas,
The gifts all wrapped with love that come from the heart.
The little kindly things we do for one another
Can bring peace on earth wherever we are.

So let the spirit of the season
Fill our hearts the whole year through
And make the world a better place
By the little things we do.

It's the little things that mean the most at Christmas,
The gifts all wrapped with love that come from the heart.
The little kindly things we do for one another
Can bring peace on earth wherever we are.

The little kindly things we do for one another
Can bring peace on earth wherever we are.

The Story Behind the Song

This is the Christmas song I wrote for my family for Christmas 2016. I will always treasure the memory of us all singing this song together that Christmas while I accompanied on the guitar. The message of the song reminds us that the things that matter most at Christmas are the time we spend together, our kindness, love, and forgiveness.
I love this quote by Howard W. Hunter:
“This Christmas, mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. Write a letter. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Manifest your loyalty in word and deed. Keep a promise. Forgo a grudge. Forgive an enemy. Apologize. Try to understand. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Be kind. Be gentle. Laugh a little more. Express your gratitude. Welcome a stranger. Gladden the heart of a child. Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth. Speak your love and then speak it again.” ― Howard W. Hunter
