Song Lyrics

Mostly I Love You

I love to walk through meadows on a sunny day,
To see a child at play, throw all my cares away.
To listen to a robin sing or watch an eagle fly.
Yes, livin’ in this wonderland can set my spirits high.

I love the sun that brightens every day,
I love to dream myself a million miles away.
I love the early spring when the world is new.
But mostly I love you.

I love to walk through leaves, to breathe the autumn air,
To see the beauty there, feel the goodness everywhere.
To reach into the heavens just to catch a dream or two—
And the moment when I touch your hand
is when my dreams come true.

I love the sun that brightens every day,
I love to dream myself a million miles away.
I love the early spring when the world is new.
But mostly I love you.

I love the early spring when the world is new.
But mostly I love you.

The Story Behind the Song

I wrote this song for my husband when we were newly married. Originally it just had two verses and the chorus. But I added the bridge and created the song video for him in honor of our 35th wedding anniversary. This is probably my favorite of all the love songs I have written for my husband. The melody is fun to sing and catchy. But the thing that makes me love it most is that it is the one that David and I have enjoyed singing and harmonizing on together the most. Even after 40 years of marriage we still enjoy singing it together. Sometimes I will even hear my husband singing it by himself.
