The Story Behind the Song

This is the song I wrote for my daughter Jennifer's wedding. The idea for the song came because my daughter is a ballroom dancer, so I wanted to write a song that she and her husband could dance to, and I knew it needed to be a waltz. I wanted the music and the intro to feel like the dance was continuous and that when the words began it was like the dance had already been going. This also provided inspiration for the lyrics -- "This is our dance--take my hands--lead me onto the dance floor" represented their special day and joining their hands in marriage. The lyrics "dancing forever with you" is symbolic of their marriage and sealing in the temple, not just for this life, but for all eternity. Just as the lyrics say "in a dance that will go on forever" their marriage will truly be able to go on forever because of their sealing in the temple by priesthood authority.
