This song began when I had the inspiration for the melody and the line “This Christmas Night,” but the rest of the words didn’t come for a few more years. As I began to pen the words I reflected on my feelings of Christmas and the magic of the season that seem to brighten with all the things that make Christmas so meaningful. I love the way the holiday season seems to bring out the best in people and how Christmas brightens our spirits.  As I look at the soft and beautiful Christmas lights on my tree, and remember my own magical Christmas memories, it does indeed brighten the light in me.
